Daniel Reed: Amalgam

Amalgam is an exploration of grid, colour and texture.
The project was initially inspired by Japanese 'tatami' matts (The term tatami is derived from the verb tatamu, meaning to fold or pile).
I was interested in the way the matts were arranged (1) and decided to make my own versions of the compositions using colour alone (2).
I developed this further by blending the colours together to form the abstract compositions seen within the posters. The final step was adding a halftone to the images in order to give them texture and ensure a high quality print finish. (3)
Incredible experimental print series made by UK-based graphic designer Daniel Reed.
